Edmond Justin Podor was the first wine producer in the family.
Since 1854, seven generations of wine producers from the Podor family have followed suit, up until 1990 when we took over.
We started out with only 4,5 hectares and since 2000, we took over the vineyards of our cousins Antoinette et Jean Podor increasing our production to 10 hectares:
- 7,50 hectares of AOC Irancy, 0,50 hectare of Bourgogne Rosé and 2 hectares producing Crémant de Bourgogne. All production destined for bottling is picked by hand. Traditional methods of fermentation are used: Whole grape bunches are fermented using only natural yeasts.
From the vineyard to bottling, we limit to the utmost all treatments. Whilst practicing conventional methods, all the same we participate in what is known as the 'lutte raisonnée' method of production to help in preserving the environment and our 'terroir'.
The most expressive of fruit of our production. The wine spends 12 to 15 months in vats before bottling. Keep 6 to 7 years.
IRANCY "Les Mazelots" (1,20 ha)
Climat vinified seperately for the first time by Jean Podor in 1985. Hard pruning and a little fertilizer ensures around four to four and a half thousand bottles each year from vines planted in 1936. Blending 5% of César adds the tannins to the Pinot Noir to give a wine capable of ageing 10 to 15 years. Bottling after 8 to 12 months in oak casks. This wine is unfiltered and unclarified. (Editors note: I love this wine. It's a true expression of traditional Irancy at its very best.)
IRANCY "Palotte" (0,50ha)
The most famous 'climat' of Irancy. Vinified and aged the same as Les Mazelots, the complex aromas of this wine only start to show after 4 to 5 years in bottle. With correct cellar conditions this wine improves with age up to 10 or 15 years.
Directly pressed from Pinot Noir, this wine gives forth its aromas young.
Crémant de bourgogne
Made by the "méthode traditionnelle", this sparkling wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
